High Moorland

I love the high moorlands - I live next to them and see the moors every time I look out of my window. I spend much of my time just walking across the moors, exploring and taking photos.

The moors are mysterious, often containing ancient carved stones, 5000 years or more old. Stone circles are numerous and also to be found are the remains of prehistoric burial mounds, ancient tracks and other artefacts. I love exploring these and photographing them. Man has roamed across the moors for thousands of years and has left his mark.

Grouse, Lapwings, Golden Plovers, Pheasants and a host of other wild creatures have made their home on the moors and you have to be careful where you step - many eggs are buried in the heather - but beware, you will be warned if you get too close. Nesting birds will soon let you know!
